OFFICIAL ATHLETICS WEBSITE OF THE LAS POSITAS COLLEGE HAWKS
women's state team

The Hawks had a strong showing at the 3C2A women's swim and dive championships this past weekend, which took place at Orange Coast College. Despite only having 4 members of their squad qualify for the three-day event, their presence would be felt and by the end of competition everyone knew how to properly pronounce Las Positas.

The meet started on the 1-meter springboard, where Sarah Dorn in her first season of diving at any level, took home a second-place medal. Her score of 226.05 was a little over 3 points behind the first-place finisher and just .05 points off a school record. Also competing in her first year of diving is fellow Hawk Annie Holm who placed 7th with a score of 173.85.

The first of the two Hawk swimmers to get in the pool was Makenzie Duffin. She competed in the 500-yard free finishing 16th in the state with a time of 5:32.14.

Day two once again started on the diving deck, out on the 3-meter springboard. This time Dorn came away with a 5th place finish, while Holm placed 14th.

Then it was Samantha Fehr's time to shine. Swimming in the 100-yard breaststroke, Fehr finished with a time of 1:05.93 which was good for a 3rd place finish and a new school record.

The final day of competition saw both Fehr and Duffin back in the water for the final time this year. Duffin swam in the grueling 1650 Yard free and finished with a time of 18:51.83 for a 10th place finish.  With her time of 2:31.81 in the 200-yard breaststroke, Fehr finished 7th in the state.
