Mission Statement

Our Vision:

The Las Positas College Athletic Department is dedicated to helping our student athletes achieve success both academically and athletically.

Our Mission:

The mission of Las Positas College is fulfilled through the ideals of excellence, diversity, service, and community.  The intercollegiate athletics program promotes optimal physical, emotional, and personal development in its student athletes, supplements the classroom experience, and provides balance to academic life.

Participation in the variety of athletic opportunities available to student athletes, with the best possible facilities, coaching personnel, and competitive opportunities, supports the mission of the College and is key to fulfilling its ideals.

The intercollegiate athletic program is integral to the institution and enhances the overall quality of the educational experience.  Participation in the College’s sports programs contributes to the academic success of it student-athletes, improves the quality of campus life by providing a shared entertainment and social activity for the campus community, and is a source of institutional pride.

The Las Positas College intercollegiate athletic program competes at the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA), specifically the Coast Conference North Division, which is historically one the highest ranking conferences in the State.

The program recruits quality student athletes regardless of race, religion, or ethnicity, and prizes diversity in the composition of its teams.  Equal emphasis is given to women’s and men’s sports and the desired quality of competition for all sports is to be matched with and to be competitive with the best Community College teams California has to offer.

Athletic excellence includes a focus on the student-athletes’ academics, persistence, graduation and transfer.  The intercollegiate athletic program aligns its objectives with the academic and developmental objectives of the College, integrates athletes with other students, and fosters a sense of community on the campus.
