All-conference guard Jalen Patterson signs with Chadron State

Another standout from the 2022-23 Las Positas College men's basketball team is taking his talents to the next level.

On Wednesday, guard Jalen Patterson signed a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic career at Chadron State College in Nebraska. Patterson was joined by college staff, teammates, family, and friends at a signing ceremony on campus.

Patterson was impressive in his only season with Las Positas. He earned first-team All-Coast Conference North Division honors after averaging 14.9 points, 7.0 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game for the Hawks. His 7.0 assists led the Coast Conference and ranked No. 2 in the state.

According to head coach James Giacomazzi, Patterson received a full scholarship to Chadron State, an NCAA Division II program that competes as a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Patterson, originally out of Liberty Ranch High School in Galt, made his way back to Northern California after playing his freshman year at Arizona Western College during the 2021-22 season.

This past season, he helped lead Las Positas to a 19-12 overall record and a spot in the Northern California Regional Playoff finals.

Patterson joins Jordahn Johnson (University of Texas Permian Basin) and Jaden Phillips (Bellevue University) as Hawks to sign in recent weeks. Evan Johnson, Isaiah Victor, and Brandon Fisher are all expected to make decisions soon as well.
