Bio

Jason Craighead was hired in August 2009 as the Head Coach of the Las Positas College Hawks Men’s & Women’s Swimming Team.  In addition to his coaching duties, Jason is also a professor in Kinesiology, Health Education, Physical Education, and a Red Cross Instructor.

Jason comes to Las Positas College with vast experience at the community college level, most recently from Sacramento City College where he was the Head Swim & Dive and Women’s Water Polo Coach.  Under his tenure, the Panthers had 22 All-Americans, broke 23 school records, and both the Men’s and Women’s programs place 12th at State Championships.  Jason has also served as an assistant coach and professor at four other prestigious colleges:  Sierra College, American River College, Santa Barbara City College, and Santa Rosa Junior College.

In 1999, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Minor in Physical Education from UC Santa Barbara, then proceeded to complete a Master’s in Sport Science from the United States Sports Academy.

Jason was born and raised in Santa Rosa, CA and was a 7-time All-American swimmer & All-Conference water polo player at Santa Rosa Junior College, then continued on to the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos to help contribute to 24 consecutive conference titles.
