LPC wins opener, drops match at Monterey Peninsula
MONTEREY – The match started well for the Las Positas College women's volleyball team on Monday.
Facing Monterey Peninsula College on the road, the Hawks won the opening set of the match for the first time this season. Unfortunately, they couldn't keep the momentum going and suffered a 3-1 loss.
LPC won the first set 25-20 before dropping the final three 25-14, 25-10, and 25-16.
Sophomore outside hitter Rachel Dayton had a solid match, posting a season-high 14 kills to lead the Hawks on offense. She also added 7 digs.
Sophomore outside hitter Sophia Kim also played well, posting 9 kills, 13 digs and 2 aces. Sophomore setter Rachel Tuazon led Las Positas with 29 assists and 16 digs.
Las Positas returns to action on Wednesday (Oct. 5) when the Hawks host De Anza College.
