STONG SWIMS IN STORMY WEATHER

Las Positas College swimmers and divers were undaunted in stormy weather, delivering strong performances at the Hawk Invite this past week.

"We had some outstanding swims, even in less-than-desirable weather," Hawks head coach Jason Craighead shared, noting the rainy and windy conditions.

The Hawks' Zach Zauhar-Kurr continued to impress winning the 200 Individual Medley, 200 Freestyle, and 200 Butterfly races … all in meet records … and the 200 Fly time was also a team record, breaking his own mark by over 3 seconds from earlier on in the season.
Ryan Ridosko finished second in the 200 Free behind Zauhar and won the 100 IM. The two stars are No. 1 and 2 in the state in that event.

On the women's side, freshman Samantha Fehr won the 50 and 100 Breaststroke races. Makenzie Duffin (FR) finished second in the 1650 freestyle, dropping close to a minute off her time. Sarah Dorn (FR) finished second in 1M and 3M diving with impressive scores. With a strong background in gymnastics, Dorn continues to be one of the top divers in the state, in her first year of diving.

The Hawks Invite has special recognitions for swimmers who place highest in their discipline. Zauhar-Kurr was the men's Butterfly champion, after winning the 200 Fly and taking second in the 100 Fly. Samantha Fehr was women's Breaststroke champion, after taking first 1st in the 100 Breast and 2nd in the 200 Breast.
