Women's Soccer Weekly Recap

The Las Positas College women's soccer team enjoyed a big week with wins over Hartnell and Chabot by a combined 7-1. The Hawks are riding a six-game unbeaten streak, including winning the last three in a row.

In a 3-1 win over Hartnell on Tuesday, Irie O'Donnell scored the first goal in the 7th minute, assisted by Kimberly Granados, to get things rolling. In the 28th minute, the Hawks took a 2-0 lead when Nadia Barron Santiago scored on an unnasssited goal. Two minutes later, the Panthers scored a goal to bring get within one, but that was as close as they would come. The door was shut in the 83rd minute with a Granados goal, which was assisted by Kaitlyn Lemus.

Thursday saw the squad playing an early morning match against the host Gladiators of Chabot College. Not bothered by the early start, the Hawks came away with a 4-0 win. The scoring started in the 35th with a Barron Santiago goal, 8 minutes later it was Alyssa Fitting's turn to get on the board. Yohanna Gizaw made her mark in the match by assisting on the Hawks first three goals, including Lemus' first goal in the 55th minute. The scoring concluded when Lemus would score an unassisted in the 65th minute.

Las Positas (7-2-5, 3-0-2) remains in firm title contention in the Coast-North Conference, with a big game against Skyline (9-0-1, 4-0-0) on Tuesday in Livermore, kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. The Hawks will end the week hosting the Owls of Foothill College at 1:30 on Thursday. Go Hawks!
