Taking the Elevator

King laying up the ball

After the first 5 minutes of the game between Las Positas and host Ohlone, one could think that this could be a close game. The Hawks were a little hesitant in those first few minutes, missing shots, defensive assignments and not picking up any lose balls. But that type of game would not be in the cards last Friday night. The Hawks settled down, gained control and then put the hammer down. What was a 6-point lead after the first, became a 27 at the half which ultimately became a 108-59 win.

It was a three-prong approach offensively as Kyshanti King had a team high 39 points, slashing her way to the hoop over and over again. Not to be outdone was Kierstin Constantino with 38 points, shooting 40% from behind the 3-point line, making 8 of them. Despite those number it was Monique Cavness that had the stat line of the night, with 23 points to go with a team high 33 rebounds. Joyce Mulumba also helped clean up the boards with 19 rebounds to go along with 4 points.

This is the 6th win of the season for the Hawks, doubling their win total from a year ago with three games left in the season. There is only one game on the schedule this week for Las Positas, as they are look for revenge while taking on cross district rival Chabot on Friday night with tip-off scheduled for 5 pm.
