HISTORIC EFFORT

Kierstin Constantino dribbles down court
Sophomore guard Kierstin Constantino delivered a prolific effort with 43 points for the Las Positas women's basketball team Tuesday night, Nov. 7.
The Hawks fell to host Cosumnes River 101-88 in nonconference play, but Constantino stole the show. The Lathrop High graduate poured in nine 3-point field goals and was 12 of 15 from the free throw line. She was the highest scorer in the game by 20 points. She tacked on six rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Las Positas head coach Caleb Theodore says Constantino's development has been "exponential" since her arrival. Her effort against CRC was off the charts in the high-scoring contest.
"Kierstin Constantino showed she is one of the best shooters in the entire state of California for community college," Theodore said. "A historic performance that I am not surprised by. It's strictly business for her. She gets it. She is high level in the classroom as well. She is due for many more things like this in the preseason and regular season. She is a leader on and off the court and we are blessed to have her in the program."
Rayna Manu added 20 points and Monique Cavness had a double-double with 15 points and 21 rebounds. Joyce Mulumba amassed 19 rebounds and four points.
"Rayna and Joyce are putting the pieces together," Theodore said. "They are making a huge impact in our program, and I am excited for what the future holds for them. They set the tone as true freshmen making a statement. They both are held in high regard amongst their peers and we appreciate their dedication and determination to persevere through adversity. Monique is continuing her legacy here. I could not be more proud. She will have more performances similar all season. We have an amazing group of women."
Theodore also raves about his assistant coach Tracey Walker.
"She plays a huge role in giving our players perspective on how to approach things as a Hall of Famer. I cannot speak of her impact enough. We have something special here, we are on to something special, we are hungry, we are showing great signs of the direction the team is headed."
The Hawks (0-3), facing a tough nonconference schedule, will face Marin (1-2) in the Don Barksdale Tournament on Friday.
