In Southern Waters

This past weekend, members of men's and women's swim and dive team left the nest to travel down south to San Luis Obispo, looking to test themselves.  The first test came on Thursday as they competed in the Cuesta Sprint Meet. But that was just the warm up to the 46th Cuesta Swim Invite where 18 college's, with 339 swimmers arrived looking to establish themselves as the best in their individual disciplines.

The Hawks saw success in the Sprint Meet, especially in the 100 Y IM.  Zach Zauhar-Kurr came away with the win with a time of 54:04, followed by Ryan Ridosko who finished right behind him with a 55:08 performance. Just missing out of third place in the race was Logan Borrelli who was out touched by .23 of a second. With a time of 35:95, Samantha Fehr came away a winner in the 50 Y Breast. The 200 Y Free Relay was won by the team of Jay Jani, Ethan Santiago, Ridosko and Zauhar-Kurr.  In the 50 Y back, Amy Heath had a good showing finishing 2nd with at time of 31.85.

In the Invite, it was Zauhar-Kurr who put on a show. He came away with Individual wins in the 200Y Breast (2:06:50), 200 Y Fly (1:55:74), a relay win and a 2nd place finish in the 50 Y Breast.

Ridosko had an all-around strong showing as well, as he came away with the win in the 200 Y IM (1:54:75), and a 2nd place finish in the 1650 Y Free. However, in the 200 Y Back, it was Borrelli (1:55:87) who finished in front of Ridosko for a 1-2 finish. Both took part in the 800Y Free Relay along with Jani and Zauhar-Kurr that finished first.

Out on the boards, Sarah Dorn came away with a 10-point win in the Women's 1-Meter with a score of 232.85,  Annie Holm finished 5th. In the Men's 3-Meter event, Zach Ulrich and his score of 174 was good for 3rd place in the 10-person field.

The Hawks will jump back into the pool this Friday in Fremont, as they take on Chabot and host Ohlone in the Ohlone tri-meet which is scheduled for a 11:00 am start.
