Hawks get No. 13 seed for playoffs; three earn Coast Conference postseason honors

PLAYOFF BRACKET

The Las Positas College men's basketball team returns to the postseason for the eight consecutive season. On Sunday, the Hawks were named the No. 13 seed for the upcoming Northern California Regional Playoffs.

Las Positas is scheduled to host No. 20-seed Diablo Valley College in a first-round game on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. Ticket prices for the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) postseason game at The Nest on the campus of LPC are $12 for general admission and $8 for all identified students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children under 12 years old.

The Hawks enter the playoffs with a 17-11 overall record and finished tied for third place in the Coast Conference North Division at 7-7. Las Positas will look to repeat the success of last year's postseason run that saw the Hawks advance to the State Championships for the first time in program history.

Diablo Valley brings an 18-10 overall mark into Wednesday's contest. The Vikings finished second in the Big Eight Conference at 11-5. The two squads have met once this season. On Dec. 9 in Livermore, Diablo Valley pulled out an 84-75 win over LPC.

The winner of Wednesday's match up will move on to a second-round game at No. 4 Yuba College (26-2). Three wins are needed by the Hawks to advance to the CCCAA State Championships on March 9-12 at West Hills College Lemoore in Lemoore.

ALL-COAST CONFERENCE NORTH DIVISION HONORS

Following the close of the regular season, three Hawks received first-team All-Coast Conference North Division postseason honors: sophomore Jordahn Johnson, sophomore Isaiah Victor, and sophomore Jalen Patterson.

Johnson led the conference in scoring at 18.6 PPG and rebounding (11.7 RPG). He also averaged 2 blocks per game and shot 61 percent from the field.

Victor is averaging 16.4 PPG and 3.0 RPG while shooting 45 percent from the field and 38 percent from three-point range.

Pattererson led the conference in assists (2nd in state) at 7.0 APG, all while scoring 15.4 PPG, averaging 3.9 RPG, and shooting 35.2 percent from 3.
