Victor leads Las Positas to pair of Coast Conference wins

By Matt Schwab

The Las Positas men's team (14-6, 4-2), ranked No. 21 in the state, remained in contention in the Coast-North Conference with back-to-back blowout wins last week, surpassing the century mark each time. The Hawks routed host Skyline with a big finish 102-78 on Jan. 18 and polished off Foothill Junior College 106-75 on Jan. 20. Las Positas has reached 100 points in five wins this season, including three times in conference play.

Against Skyline, it was to the Victor goes the spoils.

Isaiah Victor, a sophomore out of Manteca High, poured in 28 points, going 6 for 7 from 3-point range, along with five rebounds. Jaden Phillips (Modesto Christian) had 18 points, five boards and three assists. Brandon Fisher powered home a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Jalen Patterson had 16 points and six assists.

Against outmanned Foothill, Victor capped his rousing week with 24 points and Henry Palmer stepped up with 15 points, four rebounds and two assists. Brandon Fisher (Sheldon HS) had another double-double with 18 points and 11 boards. Jalen Patterson (Liberty Ranch HS) dished off 16 assists and Jordahn Johnson (Weston Ranch HS) added a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Las Positas has another big week ahead, hosting Ohlone at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and traveling to State No. 2 and Coast-North-leading CCSF on Friday.

The Hawks know the job is far from finished. Patterson tweeted "let's keep building" after the most recent win.
