Johnson garners All-State honors, Hawks set to make State Championships debut

LEMOORE – The postseason honors continue to roll in for Las Positas College freshman Jordahn Johnson. At Thursday's California Community College Men's Basketball Association (CCCMBCA) Champions Banquet, Johnson was named to the 2021-22 All-State team.

Johnson and the Hawks were honored the night prior to making their first-ever California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championships appearance. Las Positas, the North No. 4 seed, faces West Los Angeles College, the South No. 1 seed, in a quarterfinal game at 1 p.m. at Golden Eagle Arena at West Hills College Lemoore.

The game will be streamed live online by BAOSN.tv and a live stats feed will also be available as well at the CCCAA Tournament Central page.

Following the close of the regular season, Johnson captured first-team Coast Conference North Division honors and was named the Co-Freshman of the Year. Johnson is averaging a double-double with 16.2 points and 11.0 rebounds per game heading into Friday's match up.

Las Positas head coach James Giacomazzi has led his squad to a historic season, including an all-time program-best 27-3 overall record.

West LA also reached the state tournament for the first time in its program history. The Wildcats, led by State Co-Coach of the Year Anthony Jones, have won 19 straight games heading into Friday's contest and are 27-3 overall.

On the court, the Wildcats are led by All-State guards Roy Clarke (12.8 PPG, 5.9 RPG, 3.2 APG) and Justin Williams (11.0 PPG, 3.1 APG, 2.6 RPG).

Friday's winner advances to the semifinals to play either North No. 2 seed West Valley College (26-3) or South No. 3 seed Citrus College (23-6) on Saturday.
