Tall Order

The Las Positas men's and women's water polo teams had a tall task ahead of them on Wednesday afternoon as they played a double header at The Nest. The task was to take on the state's men's #2  and women's #3 ranked teams in the form of the Vikings of West Valley College.

The day kicked off with the men's match, as West Valley came away with a 14-5 win. The Hawks were led by freshman Caleb Boggan (Campolindo) who had 4 goals, two in each half. Ethan Santiago also a freshman (Valley View Charter) had the team only other goal. Freshmen Cameron Emmons (California) and Vincent Vandersall (Livermore) both had two assists a piece.

In the final match of the day, the short-handed Hawks came away with a 17-5 defeat. Makenzie Duffin a freshman (Livermore) led the way with 3 goals, while sophomore Monica Ureno (Foothill) and freshman Amy Heath (Amador Valley) each finished with a goal. Heath and sophomore Erin Cain (Granada) had the only two assists.

Then men will travel down to Southern California for three matches. On Friday morning they will take on Santa Monica College at 11 am, before making the 35-mile drive to Cerritos College for a 3:30 match. The road trip will end on Saturday as they take on Riverside College, game time scheduled for 9:30 am. On the women's side, they will be back in action on Wednesday as they host Cabrillo College, with a 3:00 start time at The Nest. Go Hawks!
