Hawks named No. 19 seed for NorCal Playoffs, travel to No. 14 Santa Rosa in first round
The road to a state championship begins this week for the Las Positas College women's soccer team. On Monday, the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) released the brackets for the upcoming Northern California Regional Playoffs.
The Hawks received the No. 19 seed for the tournament and will travel to No. 14 Santa Rosa Junior College for a first-round game on Wednesday (Nov. 16) as part of a playoff doubleheader with the Las Positas and Santa Rosa men's soccer teams. The women's contest is set for 11 a.m. followed by the men at 2 p.m.
LPC, under head coach Andrew Cumbo, enters the postseason with a 9-6-4 overall record and finished third in the Coast Conference South Division standings at 3-3-3. The Hawks have reached the playoffs for the third straight season.
Last year, the Hawks suffered a 2-1 loss in their opening-round playoff game at Folsom Lake College.
Santa Rosa compiled a 6-4 record to finish fourth in the Big 8 Conference and is 10-8 overall. SRJC and Las Positas met earlier this season with the Bear Cubs winning at LPC by a final score of 3-0 on Sep. 16.
The winner of Tuesday's contest advances to a second-round game at No. 3 Sierra College on Saturday (Nov. 19). Four wins are needed by Las Positas to advance to the 2022 CCCAA State Championships on Dec. 2 & 4 at American River College in Sacramento.
