Hawks rally comes up short, fall 2-1 to Cañada

LIVERMORE - A late goal by Cebrina Chagoya gave Las Positas College hope, but it wasn't enough in a 2-1 Coast Conference interdivision loss to visiting Cañada College on Tuesday.

The setback dropped the Hawks to 8-5-3 overall and 2-2-2 in the Coast Conference South Division standings.

The two squads battled to a scoreless first half before Cañada got on the board with the first of two goals by Yara Gomez-Zavala in the 48th minute. She scored again in the 79th minute to give the Colts a commanding 2-0 advantage.

LPC finally got on the board thanks to Chagoya's goal in the 85th minute off the assist from Danielle Castro and Irie O'Donnell. But the Hawks couldn't get the equalizer and suffered the defeat.

Las Positas returns to action next Friday (Nov. 4) at 6:30 p.m. when the Hawks host Evergreen Valley College in a Coast Conference interdivision game.
