Hawks edged by CCSF 1-0 in state showdown

In a battle of two of the top teams in the Coast Conference as well as the state, the No. 3 state-ranked Las Positas College women's soccer team suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to No. 6 City College of San Francisco in Livermore on Friday.

After getting off to an impressive 8-0 start, the Hawks have now lost consecutive games to open conference play. Las Positas fell to 8-2 and 0-2 in the Coast Conference.

Friday's game was scoreless at halftime and stayed that way until the 70th minute. San Francisco's Iliana Sanchez beat Hawks' goalkeeper Dariana Mihalache for the goal that would prove to be the game-winner.

Mihalache was credited with six saves in the contest.

Las Positas will look to bounce back on Tuesday (Oct. 5) when the Hawks travel to Ohlone College for a Coast Conference game.
