Women's Conference Preview

No matter how things play out in the standings, the Las Positas College women's basketball team will have an impact in the Coast-North Conference this season.

The Hawks (3-11) boast one of the state's top scorers in sensational sophomore Kierstin Constantino, who is averaging 25.3 points a game, and the state's top two rebounders in Joyce Mulumbu and Monique Cavness, at 22.6 and 19.6 boards a game, respectively. That's a lot of production for three players, enough so that head coach Caleb Theodore can see nothing but blue skies ahead for his energetic program.

A big key for the Hawks will be getting healthy and having a complete team on the court.

"We are excited at the opportunity to impact the landscape of the Coast-North Conference," Theodore says. "We have the pieces to make our games competitive and I couldn't be more thrilled to go into the season with the group that we have."

He added that "Kierstin Constantino, Monique Cavness, Kyshanti King, and Joyce Mulumba are set to have a strong in-season showing."

Constantino leads the 3C2A in threes, with 79, a number that also tops the nation in all levels of women's collegiate play. Additionally, she is an honor student with a 3.6 GPA.

"She is the epitome of a student-athlete. Emphasis on the STUDENT," Theodore said. "On and off the court, she is a true leader by example. Her story is incredible."

The Hawks open conference action at Skyline (7-11) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10. The game will follow the Las Positas-Skyline men's showdown at 5 p.m.
