Hawks advance to Round 2 after 84-79 win over Diablo Valley

LIVERMORE – No. 13-seed Las Positas College is headed to the second round thanks to its 84-79 victory over No. 20 Diablo Valley College on Wednesday at The Nest in an opening-round game of the Northern California Regional Playoffs.

LPC got a team-high 30 points from Isaiah Victor. He added 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Jordahn Johnson totaled 19 points, 13 rebounds, and 8 blocks, Brandon Fisher had 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists while Jalen Patterson contributed 6 points, 10 assists, and 3 rebounds.

The Hawks, now 18-11 overall, will next travel to No. 4 Yuba College for a Round 2 matchup on Saturday (Feb. 25) at 7 p.m. Ticket prices for the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) postseason game at Yuba College are $12 for general admission and $8 for all identified students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children under 12 years old.

Yuba had a first-round bye and is 26-2 overall. The 49ers went a perfect 16-0 in conference play to capture a Bay Valley title. Saturday's meeting will mark the first time the two squads will face each other this season.

The winner will take on either No. 5 West Valley College or No. 12 Porterville College in the third round. Two more wins are needed by the Hawks to advance to the CCCAA State Championships on March 9-12 at West Hills College Lemoore in Lemoore.
