Hawks beat Columbia 90-84 to capture Tony Costello Tip-Off Classic championship

LIVERMORE – Tournament most valuable player Jordahn Johnson posted a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds to help lead No. 10 Northern California-ranked Las Positas College to a 90-84 victory over No. 11 Columbia College in the Tony Costello Tip-Off Classic championship final at The Nest on Saturday.

The victory capped an impressive opening weekend for the Hawks as they went 3-0 with wins over Simpson University JV on Thursday (113-73) and No. 20 Los Medanos College on Friday (103-94).

Johnson (pictured, left) averaged 21 points per game at the tourney. He had another double-double in Friday's contest with 24 points and 20 rebounds against Los Medanos.

In Saturday's final, Isaiah Victor added 20 points and 5 assists while Jaden Patterson totaled 18 points and 9 assists. Both were named to the All-Tournament team for the Hawks.

Victor was coming off a huge 31-point outburst in Friday's win while Patterson posted 18 points and 9 assists.

Las Positas is back in action on Thursday (Nov. 10) when the Hawks travel to Modesto Junior College for a 5 p.m. non-conference game.
