Harnell leads LPC to rout of West Valley

Aaron Berry soars to the hoop against WVC. McKayle Harnell scored all 20 of his points in the first half as the Hawks rolled to an easy 98-56 victory over visiting West Valley on Tuesday in their final nonconference game of the season.

The Hawks, who are 10-5 and ranked #13 in Northern California, stretched their winning streak to 7 games and finished the month of December undefeated. Their last loss was a two-point defeat at Mendocino on Nov. 20.

Harnell set the tone early by hitting his first 3 three-point attempts and scoring 13 points as LPC raced out to a 19-0 lead just 6 minutes into the game. The first half ended with the Hawks ahead 50-30.

Brandon Eboigbodin, who finished with 19 points, opened the second half with an alley-oop basket before Keith Hunter (14 points) nailed a three-pointer to push the lead to 55-30. After West Valley (4-10) scored 6 of the game's next 8 points, LPC went on a 15-0 run to build a commanding 72-36 advantage and put the game away.

Aaron Berry scored 10 points off the bench and capped the blowout with a rousing dunk off an Ellis Salahuddin lob late in the game.

LPC subbed freely throughout the contest, and 10 of its players ended up scoring.

The Hawks are off until Jan. 6 when they take on Ohlone at 7 p.m. in the Coast Conference North Division opener in Fremont.
