Eboigbodin, Salahuddin key LPC's 9th straight victory

Brandon Eboigbodin and Ellis Sallahuddin keyed a strong second-half by the Hawks on Friday night, leading LPC to its ninth straight victory, a 67-59 win over Foothill in Livermore.

The Hawks, ranked #18 in the state and #9 in Northern California, improved to 12-5 overall and 2-0 in the Coast Conference North Division. Foothill (8-8, 0-2) entered ranked #15 in NorCal.

The victory marked the first time in the Hawks' 10-year history that they started the conference by winning the first two games. It also marked LPC's second-longest win streak ever, moving past the 2008-09 team that opened the regular season with 8 consecutive victories. The 2011-12 squad holds the school record for most wins in a row with 11.

Eboigbodin finished as LPC’s leading scorer with 17 points, 15 of which came in the second half. Sallahuddin scored 10 of his 13 points after intermission, which ended with the Hawks ahead 28-26.

The score was tied 42-42 before Eboigboin scored 8 straight points as LPC opened a 50-42 lead. After a Foothill three-pointer, Sallahuddin scored inside, and Cameron Moses added 2 free throws for a 54-45 advantage with 6:37 remaining.

The Owls closed within 56-52 before Eboigbodin made 2 foul shots, then found Sallahuddin inside, and Sallahuddin, who sat out Wednesday’s win over Ohlone with an illness, converted a three-point play. That put LPC up 61-52, and Foothill couldn’t come closer than 6 points after that.

McKayle Harnell finished with 12 points for LPC, and Moses added 10.

LPC’s next game is Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Chabot in Livermore.
